The Department has received 528 applications to the Afghan Admission Programme.
The programme enabled current or former Afghan nationals living legally in Ireland to apply to have their close family members, who are living in Afghanistan or who have fled since 1 August 2021 to certain neighbouring countries, to apply for temporary residence in Ireland.
The programme opened on 16 December 2021 and closed on 11 March 2022.
We are currently processing all applications and we expect to issue decisions in the coming months. However, to ensure we can concentrate resources on processing applications, we ask that you only contact the Department if your query is urgent.
The issuing of decisions may be impacted by developments outside of the control of the Department, including the Ukrainian crisis and the Covid-19 situation.
